GENA ROWLANDS

It was the honor of my life to present Gena Rowlands with the Career Achievement Award in 2015 from the Los Angeles Film Critics Association. Her close friend, Angelina Jolie, flew in from Italy to join in the evening. I was nervous as a cat standing next to them, but they were both funny and kind and afterward, Gena spent some time talking with me. She invited me to come for a movie night the following week, but a change in her plans kept that from happening. No matter. The night was a dream and a joy and Gena Rowlands, onscreen and off, unforgettable.
